I still feel pretty exhausted from the weekend. It was really good...I'm just sad I didn't get to sleep in at all.
Saturday began with a trip to the Southern Kentucky Book Fair. Nerdy, yes I know, but I never went to the LA Book Fair while I still lived there so I figured, if there's one in Kentucky, why not? I like to read, I admit it. There's nothing like getting lost in a good book you know? To feel transported to a completely different world and get immersed with the characters and to go on adventures and what not with them...that's the power of books.
I went with a friend with work and we went to a talk by the author of "If you give a mouse a cookie"...CLASSIC!! She didn't say anything really life-changing, but it was nice to get to know the face behind the book and to hear about how authors get ideas. And then I thought back to my childhood and the classic children's books I used to read...Clifford...Madeline...Berenstain Bears...oh man, those were good times.
Later on in the day, we went to Lost River Cave, one of Bowling Green's top tourist spots. It's essentially just a cave, but apparently, it used to be a "nightclub" back in the 1930s...bands would play and there would be dances and stuff INSIDE the caves. How awesome would that party be?

We took on a boat ride inside the cave, which wasn't anything super special but it was nice.
Then we hiked on some of the trails around the cave...and that's when I realized how accustomed I had grown to LA. I was so shocked by the brightness and colour of the sky, that I took a picture of it. The sky was blue. Nothing special right? Actually, it is after living in LA for 4.5 years and being used to seeing smog and pollution.
It was nice to be in nature. To just enjoy grass and trees and rocks, the simple things in life. I'm such a city girl that I normally underestimate the power of nature but I think since moving out here, where there is obviously a lot of nature, I've come to appreciate it more and enjoy it more.
Of course it also helped that my friend and I were enjoying the trails and our time outside by making a "day horror movie", which is essentially a horror movie set during the day. Frightening! That is also when I realized how hard it is to be an actress...it was pretty hard for me to keep a straight face and try to act while we were filming. I think she's editing it now so when I see it (and if I approve of the movie being made public), I'll show you guys.
