Southern Slang

Maybe it's not southern slang...maybe it's Kentucky slang? Or maybe it's just the slang of people who happen to work at my station. But I have noticed recently some different things they say out here:

- Do what? aka What?, What did you say?, Say that again?, Pardon me?, etc.
Example:
Hey, can you pass me that piece of paper?
Do what?
Pass me that piece of paper?
Ok, yeah sure.

- Basketball goal aka Basketball hoop
Example:
He put it right in the basketball goal.

Those are the only ones I can remember right now, but I'm sure the longer I'm here, the more I'll pick up on things and notice them. I wonder if I will start to pick up on them as well...I mean, I've already added "y'all", "ma'am", and "sir" to my vocabulary. Next thing you know, I'll have the southern twang in my voice! But hey, I think we all know I had that twang perfected way before I even got out here :P

Good night y'all!
