Hello Nashville

I love adventures. Any kind really. They don't have to be crazy backpacking adventures in Europe (though I wouldn't protest), they don't have to be climbing Mount Everest (I would probably be too scared)...they just have to be fun. And they have to be done with someone who is curious too, someone who's willing to try something new because, why not?

That's why I was super excited my friend Stanley came to visit this past weekend. Of course, I was just excited someone was visiting me in general (!) but Stanley is an awesome travel buddy. We once made an adventure out of exploring the Mount St. Mary's campus close to where I lived in LA, reading student fliers, checking out a creepy building, and trying to figure out what the deal was with this random school in the middle of the city.

The day started off with a monstrous feast at Monell's, a Southern restaurant in Germantown in Nashville. I had just Yelp-ed it and the reviews said it had great Southern food, so hello, clearly I had to try it. What I didn't know was Saturday had a buffet-style, family-style brunch special! So I sit down thinking "ok, there's going to be a menu and I'll order some good Southern grub" but instead plates upon plates of food descend on the table!

Rich biscuits covered with gravy, sweet and smooth scrambled eggs, cinnamon-y pancakes, sausage patties, bacon, honey ham, and fried chicken! No meal in the South is complete with fried chicken. Sorry I don't have a picture. I just couldn't break away from the delicious food to take a picture. In my defense, the meal was family-style, I had to fight to make sure I got the food I wanted!

The meal was amazing....AMAZING!! The best Southern breakfast I've had, hands down. And that was only the beginning of a weekend of awesome food :)
