Knox Mountain hiking

My "New Year's resolution" was to be active. I don't really believe in resolutions because most of the time, you break them. But I figured if I kept the resolution positive ("be active" rather than "lose weight"), it would be easier to keep.

And you know what? It totally has! Mind you, we are only 18 days into 2011 but nevertheless, having that different frame of mind makes the resolution much more tolerable AND more fun. I decided to mix things up a bit with the "staying active" and went on a hike on Knox Mountain, which is a pretty neat mountain pretty close to where I live.

The mountain is (obviously) really twisty and curvy so I decided to sit with a pretty basic route that went up and then around the lake.

Looking out onto the lake. West Kelowna is on the other side of the lake, but I don't really venture out there much.

This is a bird's eye view of downtown Kelowna.

And so the hike begins! Leave it to me to decide to go hiking and then it starts snowing...and then a little while later, the sun decides to set. Why, why?!

I slowly make my way north of the lake, in the direction of Vernon.

I guess the route I took is pretty popular so someone decided to take it upon themselves to decorate a whole bunch of trees along the path! At first I thought it was just one tree, aw how cute. But then I realized it was a series of trees! Either someone was really festive or they were really bored. Oh well, I thought it was kinda sweet.
