One of my favourite things to do is chill. I think I'm really good at it. Well I think I may have found a way to bump up the awesomeness of chilling: it's called floating.
In Penticton, there is a channel that feeds into one of the lakes. And you can rent/bring your own floatie and literally just float down the river. I didn't have a floatie (that is now no. 1 on my shopping list) so I rented one from the company that operates beside the river. It wasn't very attractive, it looked like a black Lifesaver. But it did the job, that's the most important part.
I plopped it into the river and then plopped myself into the centre of it. My friends and I brought rope to tie our floaties together and next thing we knew, we were cruising down the river! The river was actually abnormally high and fast so we were speeding through the channel. But it really didn't feel like it because we were just chilling, sipping on our coolers and talking about random things.
Floating is honestly one of the most carefree things you can do. Life just seems so simple when you're floating! As you float, you realize that the long list of things you tell yourself you have to do seems so trivial. Life should just should about floating, just going with the flow, just letting the water take you wherever you want to go. I love how that sentence was totally literal but could also be totally figurative.
I definitely need to get a floatie now. Life in the Okanagan is awesome!
