Movies under the stars

I've always wanted to go to a drive-in. I think there's just something super neat about taking your car to the movies with you. Why sit in uncomfortable theatre seats? Why have to deal with randoms talking during the movie? Drive-in theatres let you watch movies on your terms. Plus you get to do it out in nature and under the stars!

My friends and I drove up to Enderby, which is about an hour and a bit away from Kelowna. We parked our cars beside one another but ended up sitting in the back of my friend's truck and on a blanket on the ground.

The view from inside my car, it was decided after this picture was taken that
it would be more awesome to watch the movie outside the car

Watching a movie at the drive-in is like seeing a movie at home except take away the four walls and instead throw some grass, trees, a large white billboard and possibly mosquitos in the mix. I know it doesn't necessarily sound appealing but it makes movie watching way more fun! The screen is so much bigger than a normal theatre and it's serious surround sound since everyone's car is blasting the sound.

I loved that I could watch the movie...but then glance up and try to figure out the constellations above me. Or I would watch the movie then get distracted by the headlights of cars driving along the highway beside the drive-in. It was a little chillier than I would have liked (this is supposed to be summer!) but it reinforced that I was outside watching a movie, it made the whole experience feel more raw.

The movie schedule for the night was a 9:30 showing of Zookeeper and
then a 11:30 showing of Transformers 3, I had work the next day, I stayed for both

I know I have probably made drive-ins sound distracting and uncomfortable, but they're a lot of fun. And hey even if I have turned you off of drive-ins, I don't care. That just means there is more room at the drive-in for me.
