St. Patty's Day

Ok, I know St. Patty's Day was SO last month but I'm just a *little* behind on my blog posts, whatever. This past SPD (St. Patty's Day if you couldn't figure it out), I went to this bar in town with some friends. There was green beer, everyone was in green something or the other, but the moments that stick out in my mind involve the two pictures above.

One, partway through the night, the Kelowna Highland Band came in to play for us. Highland bands are Scottish and SPD is an Irish holiday, but whatever, let's just all be friends! There was a small drumline and then we had the bagpipes. Man, that instrument just commands authority! I love the bagpipes. I think they may be competing against the accordion for my all-time favourite instrument.

Second, the DJ (if you can call him that) for the night was this random Jamaican dude! He would speak, with a Jamaican accent, and command us to be Irish and then he would play Newfie music and then he would jeer at the scantily clad girls dancing in front of his sad little DJ booth. And he had the most random contests! Like who could produce five $20 bills or other assortments of money. I think he may have just been out to get our money.

But the most memorable moment from that night is the aftermath of it. Because the next day I woke up with...the plague. I'm not even kidding, it was horrendous. Usually if I'm sick, I just get a horrible cough. But this was a cough and body aches and no appetite (I'm pretty sure I lost five pounds while I had the plague) and just the worst overall feeling you could possibly imagine. It was so bad, I was out of commission for four days :( Horrible sickness, horrible feelings...but great story to tell. People particularly seem to like the name I gave my sickness...
